Terms of service

These terms govern your use of txscribe (txscribe.ai), operated by txscribe AI. By using the service you agree to them.

Your content

You keep all rights to the files you upload and the transcripts produced from them. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service: to store your files and to pass them to the processors described in our privacy policy so they can be transcribed.

What you may upload

Only recordings you have the right to transcribe. Recording and transcribing other people can be regulated where you are; complying with that is your responsibility, not ours.

Accuracy

Transcripts, summaries and translations are produced by automated systems and will contain errors, including in ways that change meaning. Do not rely on them for anything consequential without checking them against the recording. The service is provided as is, without warranty.

Dubs are machine translations read by synthetic voices. Like transcripts, they can be wrong, including in names, numbers and meaning. Check a dub before you rely on it or publish it.

Plans and billing

Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe and renew automatically until cancelled. Cancelling stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. Usage limits are described on the pricing page.

Subscriptions bought in our phone and Mac apps

If you subscribe inside one of our iPhone apps or our Mac app, Apple bills you, not us. Your subscription renews automatically at the price shown in the app before you buy, at the end of each period, unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the period ends. If a subscription starts with a free trial, Apple charges you when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. You manage and cancel it in your Apple ID settings (https://apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions). Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep what you paid for until the end of the current period. Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription.

Refunds for a subscription bought through Apple are handled by Apple: request one at https://reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot refund Apple charges ourselves.

The refund rules in 'Refunds and disputes' below apply to subscriptions paid on our website, not to subscriptions billed by Apple or Google Play.

If you end up paying for the same account both on our website and in an app, the app subscription stays in place and we refund the website subscription for the days it overlapped, and cancel it. We do this by hand once we notice it; you can also write to support@txscribe.ai.

Introductory price

Pro has one introductory price at a time. The checkout page, and our pricing page, say which one you are being offered. Either applies once per person — once per account and once per card — to your first monthly Pro subscription, and not to yearly billing. A first week paid with a card that has had an introductory price before is cancelled at once, and what it cost is refunded in full.

Free week. Where the checkout page offers it, your first 7 days of Pro are free, with 90 minutes of transcription in them. Stripe asks for a card and nothing is charged that day. We email you the date and the amount of the first charge at least seven days before it; cancel before that date, from your account page, and you pay nothing at all. On that date the first month is charged at $9.99, and from the month after the subscription renews at $24.99 a month, with 30 hours, until you cancel. The free week is given once per account and once per card. If you pay before you have an account and the email address you gave Stripe cannot become your sign-in, we cannot send that email, and the week ends with nothing charged.

First month. The first month of Pro costs $9.99 and includes 30 hours of transcription. After the first month the subscription renews at $24.99 a month, with 30 hours, until you cancel.

Student price. If you confirm an address at a university, a monthly Pro subscription you start after that costs $12.49 a month instead, from the first month, with 30 hours, and neither introductory price above applies. It renews at $12.49 a month until you cancel.

Invite a friend

Your account page has an invite link. It counts for someone who follows it and then, in the same browser within 30 days, either signs in to txscribe with an account made less than a day before that has never opened a checkout for Pro, or buys Pro without signing in and comes back to this website from the payment page. The first time a payment of $12.49 or more, with nothing taken off it, for their Pro subscription then goes through on this website — an introductory price, for a first week or a first month, does not count — you get 300 extra minutes and they get 120. Pro paid once for a number of months does not count. A payment refunded in full or disputed earns no reward: if the reward was already given, as many extra minutes as it gave each of you are taken back, as far as you have extra minutes left.

An account can be counted for one link, once. A link does not count for the account it belongs to, for an account with the same email address, or when the person signs in from the browser our analytics has recorded for the link’s own account; and it rewards nobody if Stripe shows that the friend’s payment that counts was made with a card the link’s own account has paid with or saved. If the account the link belongs to has been deleted, only the friend is rewarded. You can be rewarded for up to5 friends a calendar month (UTC); past that, your friend is still rewarded. Extra minutes are used once your plan’s minutes for the period are spent, stay until used or taken back as above, and have no cash value.

Refunds and disputes

If you were charged for something you did not mean to buy, write to support@txscribe.ai and say so, and we will sort it out with you directly. Please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank: a dispute takes weeks, and writing to us is usually faster.

If your subscription renews and you did not mean it to, write to support@txscribe.ai within 7 days of the charge. We refund that charge in full and cancel the subscription, whether or not you have used it since.

Dubbing (beta)

Dubbing is in beta. Pro includes 60 minutes of dubbing a month. If your first month was at the introductory price, that month includes previews only: the first 2 minutes of speech (never more than half the recording) of up to 3 recordings. A free account can make one preview. Previews play on txscribe and can’t be downloaded. We may change the allowance while dubbing is in beta, and we will tell you before we do.

To make a dub, you let us translate your transcript and turn it into synthetic speech, and keep the result for you until you delete it.

You may dub only what you have the right to translate, re-voice and, if you publish it, publish, including the voices and words of other people in the recording.

Don’t present a dub as the speaker’s own voice or words. When you publish a dub, say that it is AI-generated audio.

Don’t remove or change the marks that identify a dub as AI-generated.

Ending your use

You can stop using the service and delete your content at any time. We may suspend an account that is being used unlawfully or in a way that threatens the service for others.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced before they take effect.
