Which one?
Pro is $15 for thirty hours, so about 50¢ an hour. If you transcribe less than an hour or two in a normal month, you are better off not subscribing — start free, and come back when you run out. That is the whole calculation, and you can redo it.
Questions
- Is there a feature table?
- No, because there is nothing to put in it. Speakers, word-level timestamps, editing, the custom word list, summaries, translation, questions, share links and every export format are in all of them. A free account is the whole product with ninety minutes in it, not a demonstration of it.
- What counts towards my minutes?
- The length of the audio you transcribe. A 40-minute recording uses 40 minutes, however long it takes to process, and retrying a failed file doesn't charge you twice.
- Why is the first month cheaper?
- Because a month is how long it takes to find out whether this fits your work, and we would rather you found out for $7 than for $15. It goes to $15 from the second month — that is the whole of it, and it is written here rather than in a footnote, because a charge you were not expecting is a bad way to learn what something costs.
- Is the free tier monthly?
- No — it is ninety minutes once, not ninety minutes a month. Enough to put one real recording through and judge it, which is the only test worth running.
- What happens when I run out?
- Transcribing stops. Everything you already have stays readable, editable and exportable — running out takes away what comes next, never what you have made.
- Can I cancel?
- Any time, from your account page. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Which languages, and which get speaker labels?
- 21 languages. The picker lists 24, because some of them come in more than one regional variant. Speaker separation is available on 12 of those 24: Chinese (Mandarin), English (US), English (UK), English (India), Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil) and Hindi. The other 12 transcribe with full timings and punctuation, but everything arrives as one speaker. The picker tells you before you upload, not after.
- What if a recording switches between languages?
- Name the main language rather than leaving it on automatic. Detecting the language automatically means settling on one for the whole recording, and what was said in the other may come back translated instead of transcribed — or not come back at all. Either way nothing is marked as missing: the transcript will look complete.
- What happens to my recordings?
- They're stored so you can play them back beside the transcript, and deleted with the transcript when you delete it. They are never used to train anything.
